Daniel Thomas Barry, born on December 30, 1953, in Norwalk, Connecticut, is an American engineer, scientist, and retired NASA astronaut. He graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana, in 1971. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University in 1975, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University in 1980. In 1982, he earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Miami. Selected by NASA in 1992, Barry flew on STS-72, STS-96, and STS-105, logging over 734 hours in space, including 4 spacewalks totaling 25 hours and 53 minutes. He retired from NASA in April 2005 and founded Denbar Robotics.
