Ellen Louise Shulman Baker, born April 27, 1953, is an American physician and former NASA astronaut. She earned a bachelor's degree in geology from the University at Buffalo and a doctorate of medicine from Cornell University. Selected by NASA in 1984, Baker flew on STS-34, STS-50, and STS-71, logging over 686 hours in space. She served as Chief of the Education/Medical Branch of the NASA Astronaut Office before retiring in 2011 after more than 30 years at NASA.
