Michael Allen Baker, born October 27, 1953, is a retired captain in the United States Navy and former NASA astronaut. A graduate of the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Baker was selected by NASA in 1985. He piloted STS-43 and STS-52, and commanded STS-68 and STS-81. A veteran of four spaceflights, Baker has logged 965 hours in space. He is a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots and the Association of Space Explorers.
