Yuri Mikhailovich Baturin, born on June 12, 1949, in Moscow, is a Russian cosmonaut and former politician. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 1973. Baturin was selected as a cosmonaut in 1997. His first spaceflight, Mir EP-4, launched on Soyuz TM-28 on August 13, 1998, and landed with Soyuz TM-27, lasting 11 days, 19 hours, and 39 minutes. He was a research cosmonaut for this mission. His second spaceflight, ISS EP-1, launched on Soyuz TM-32 on April 28, 2001, and landed with Soyuz TM-31, lasting 7 days, 22 hours, and 4 minutes. This mission carried the first space tourist, Dennis Tito.
