A.V. Roe and Company
A.V. Roe and Company, widely known as Avro, was a pioneering British aircraft manufacturer founded by Alliott Verdon Roe and Humphrey Verdon Roe in Manchester in 1910. It became one of the country's foundational aircraft builders, producing designs ranging from the Avro 504 trainer to the Anson, Lancaster, Vulcan, and 748. Avro later passed through Armstrong Siddeley and Hawker Siddeley ownership, and the company name ceased to be used as a separate manufacturer in 1962.
