ShinMaywa Industries

ShinMaywa Industries is a Japanese industrial manufacturer founded in 1949 and headquartered in Takarazuka, Hyogo. Its aircraft business continues the engineering lineage of predecessor Kawanishi Aircraft through amphibious aircraft and commercial aerostructures. ShinMaywa develops and produces the US-2 short-takeoff-and-landing search-and-rescue amphibian operated by Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force. It also supplies major components including Boeing 787 wing spars, Boeing 777/777X wing-to-body fairings, Airbus A330neo fairings and control surfaces for Japanese patrol and transport aircraft. Manufacturing work is distributed among its Konan, Takarazuka, Tokushima and Harima plants. Group companies provide maintenance for US-2 and other defence aircraft, while the JAMS joint venture with Marubeni Aerospace supports business-aircraft maintenance. Aircraft research includes composite materials and future-aircraft technologies.
