309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG)

The 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) is a U.S. Air Force Sustainment Center industrial group and geographically separated unit of the Ogden Air Logistics Complex at Hill Air Force Base, located on Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. The official Air Force page describes AMARG as occupying 2,600 acres and storing on average 3,200 aircraft, 6,100 aircraft engines and nearly 300,000 aircraft-production tooling and special-test items. Its mission covers aircraft preservation and storage, parts reclamation, disposal, regeneration and limited depot-level maintenance; the group averages about 100 aircraft regenerations or regeneration preparations per year and reclaims about 5,000–6,000 aircraft parts annually. AMARG became a separate entity at the site in 1946. It is a controlled industrial area: the official FAQ says public tours and visits are not available and access is limited to official business, so it is not a normal visitor attraction.
