Adler Planetarium

Adler Planetarium, founded as America’s first planetarium, is a public astronomy and space-science museum on Chicago’s Museum Campus with astronomy collections, immersive dome theaters and the Doane Observatory. Its collections span astrolabes, handmade telescopes, art and literature, while the Doane’s public 24-inch telescope supports weather- and staff-dependent observing and research. The museum currently lists timed-entry hours Thursday–Tuesday 09:00–16:00 and Wednesday 16:00–22:00, with last admission one hour before closing; special closures include July 29, September 19, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, so confirm the live calendar before travel. General admission starts at $25 for adults and $13 for children, with dome shows available as an add-on; tickets are one-time entry and advance online booking is encouraged. Adler provides accessible parking, a push-button accessible entrance, elevators and accessible restrooms, wheelchair seating in all three theaters, free manual wheelchairs, assisted listening devices and captioning for select dome shows. Service animals are welcome; contact guestservices@adlerplanetarium.org about access needs. Parking rates are controlled by the Chicago Park District’s manager and can vary with Soldier Field or Northerly Island events; CTA access is via Roosevelt and the #146 bus, with seasonal #130 service. Visitor address: 1300 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60605, United States.
