Airborne & Special Operations Museum

The U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville preserves and teaches the history of America’s airborne and special operations forces through immersive galleries, real artifacts and service stories from the Second World War through current conflicts. Exhibits include D-Day and airborne operations, the Vietnam era, the Global War on Terror, a Sheridan tank and an Afghan hut experience, with educational programmes and changing exhibits extending the visit. Admission is free. Current public hours are Tuesday–Saturday 10:00–16:00 and Sunday 12:00–16:00; the museum is closed Mondays and on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Easter Sunday, but is open on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. Bags are not permitted inside and may be searched. Free parking in front accommodates cars, RVs and buses, with large-vehicle parking along Hillsboro Street and by North Carolina State Veterans Park. The exhibits and grounds are accessible, accessible parking is available and Visitor Services has four loan wheelchairs; allow 2–3 hours. Trained service animals are welcome, but emotional-support, comfort and therapy animals are not. No food, beverages, smoking, flash photography or drones are permitted.
