Arnhem Space Centre

Arnhem Space Centre is a former commercial launch facility on the Dhupuma Plateau, about 20 km south of Nhulunbuy in East Arnhem, Northern Territory, on Yolngu country. Equatorial Launch Australia built and operated the site and conducted three NASA Black Brant IX sounding-rocket launches in June–July 2022; the Australian Space Agency’s current decision register records that launch-facility licence as limited to that 2022 campaign. ELA announced that Arnhem operations ceased immediately in December 2024, and ABC reported the company entered liquidation in March 2026. The proposed Phase 2 expansion and any successor operation remain unresolved, so do not present this as an active spaceport. The site lies within the Dhimurru Indigenous Protected Area and on freehold Aboriginal land administered by the Northern Land Council; the reviewed authorities do not publish a general visitor programme. Confirm current land permissions, access and any future launch activity with relevant Yolngu land authorities, the Northern Territory and a successor operator before travel. Facility reference: Central Arnhem Road, Dhupuma Plateau, Nhulunbuy 0880, Northern Territory, Australia.
