Avro Heritage Museum

Avro Heritage Museum is a self-funded charitable aviation museum at the former Woodford Aerodrome in Cheshire, preserving the legacy of A V Roe and aircraft built and tested there, including the Lancaster, Vulcan, Nimrod and BAe 146. Exhibits and an expanding archive interpret Avro and Woodford production history; the museum is home to the only all-white Vulcan and offers cockpit experiences for the Lancaster, Vulcan, VC10 and Nimrod. Public hours are Friday–Sunday 10:00–16:00 plus bank-holiday Mondays; Monday and Wednesday are closed, while Tuesday and Thursday are for pre-booked visits only. Admission is £9 for adults, £7 for concessions over 60, £5 for children 11–16, free for children under 11, £25 for a family of two adults and two children, and free for Museum Friends; Gift Aid rates differ and accompanying carers enter free, although cockpit tours cost extra. Group and school visits require advance booking, and cockpit tours depend on guide availability and may close in poor weather. The galleries are wheelchair accessible with a lift, accessible toilets, loan wheelchairs and walker, hearing loop, assistance-dog access, free parking and six disabled spaces; cockpit steps remain for authenticity.
