Boron Aerospace Museum

The Boron Aerospace Museum in downtown Boron, formerly the Colonel Vernon P. Saxon Jr. Aerospace Museum, preserves the experimental-flight history of California’s Aerospace Valley, where Edwards Air Force Base, NASA and private industry tested aircraft and X-planes. Its volunteer-run collection includes an F-4 Phantom II, Saab J-35 Draken and cockpit simulator, T-45/Adour jet engine, Turner T-40, XLR-8 rocket engine and artifacts such as skis from Richard E. Byrd’s Antarctic expedition. The museum is next to the Twenty Mule Team Museum, less than a mile from Highway 58. The operator lists public hours Monday–Saturday 10:00–16:00 and Sunday 12:00–16:00; visitor availability, programmes and accessibility depend on its volunteer operation, so confirm before travel.
