Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory

Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory is Armenia’s national-value research observatory and a bookable public science-tourism destination. The official tour programme requires advance booking by phone and keeps visits structured so they do not interfere with research. Daytime territory and 2.6-metre telescope visits are listed 10:00–17:00; the Viktor Ambartsumian House-Museum 10:00–18:00; and the mobile planetarium runs Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00–23:00. Professional small-telescope night observing runs 20:00–24:00 from April through September and 20:30–24:30 from October through March, with objects selected according to weather, season, and Moon phase. Additional packages include lectures, solar observations, the UNESCO heritage centre, and special access to the 1-metre Schmidt telescope; confirm availability, language, pricing, and current conditions before travel.
