Calar Alto Observatory is an active high-altitude research campus in Almería and the largest astronomical observatory in continental Europe. Its optical telescopes support exoplanet, galaxy, transient, and instrumentation research. The observatory's current public programme offers advance-booked daytime dome tours, school and private-group visits, night-sky sessions, and limited public observing with the professional 1.23-metre telescope. Visits are managed by Azimuth, meet at the reception centre at the western entrance, and remain subject to scientific operations, maintenance, safety, and mountain conditions.
