Canadian Aviation Museum

The Canadian Aviation Museum at Windsor International Airport is a working volunteer museum restoring and interpreting Canadian military and civil aircraft, including the Lancaster FM212 project. It occupies the original 1940 hangar of No. 7 Elementary Flying Training School, part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, at the airport’s west end just south of Airport Road. Tours and the gift shop are open from Canada Day through Labour Day, Tuesday–Saturday 10:00–16:00; from September through June, Thursday and Friday 10:00–15:00 and Saturday 10:00–16:00. The operator lists closures for Good Friday (April 3, 2026), Thanksgiving Day, and December 18–January 1, with seasonal and weather-related changes possible, so check before travel. Admission is CAD 11 for adults, CAD 9 for seniors 65+ and students 18 and under, CAD 27 for a family of two adults and two children under 16, and free for veterans and children under 6. Private tours for groups of 10 or more and researchers are by appointment; free parking is available. Museum areas are wheelchair accessible except aircraft observation decks, which are stair-access only; a support person enters free, wheelchairs may be borrowed, and only service dogs are permitted. The museum is a flying museum, so aircraft may be away for honour flights or airshows; contact the operator if a specific aircraft is important to your visit.
