Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum

Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum is a volunteer-run museum on the former RAF Dumfries airfield in Heathhall, centred on the wartime control tower and the region’s aviation history. Its collection includes wartime assault gliders, the film-star Trident airliner, Blackburn Buccaneer, supersonic Lightning and Draken fighters, helicopters, engines and Scotland’s only Battle of Britain veteran Spitfire—the Loch Doon aircraft. Airborne Forces, Home Front, Bomber War and RAF Dumfries displays connect the hardware to local and national service history, while archives, restoration and school/group tours extend the learning value.
