Eastchurch Aviation Museum

Eastchurch Aviation Museum preserves the Isle of Sheppey site where early British aviation, Short Brothers aircraft work and naval flying developed. Eastchurch was the first Aero Club of Great Britain airfield, a pioneering Royal Naval Air Service and Fleet Air Arm station, one of the first RAF stations and a centre for wartime aviation; the museum’s volunteer-run displays interpret pioneer flight, the RNAS and RAF story, local airfield history and surviving hangar heritage. The museum is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10:00–15:00, with additional visits by appointment. Admission is £2 per adult; under-16s and visitors with a carer are free, and parking is free. Parties of 10 or more and all school parties must pre-book so the museum can prepare material and volunteers. The museum is at HMP Standford Hill; follow the operator’s directions from the prison gatehouse before visiting.
