Effelsberg Radio Telescope is the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy's 100-metre steerable dish and a major instrument for radio astronomy. The 2026 visitor program offers public talks at the pavilion (normally German; English on request), with advance registration required for some dates; talks cost €2 for adults and €1 for children/pupils, cash only. Guided tours and interior access are not available. Park at Max-Planck-Straße 10 and walk 10–15 minutes to the pavilion; there is no public road directly to the observatory. Switch mobile phones, notebooks, and other electronics off or to airplane mode. Check MPIfR's visitor page for current dates and registration.
