ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre

ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre is the European Southern Observatory’s public astronomy centre at its Garching headquarters, operated with the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies. Its 4,980 m² building combines the Living Universe exhibition, a 14-metre fulldome planetarium, hands-on astronomy and physics interpretation, guided tours and bilingual school programmes. Normal hours are Wednesday–Friday 09:00–17:00 and Saturday–Sunday 12:00–17:00; it is closed Mondays, Tuesdays and the last full weekend of each month, with first-Friday hours extended to 20:00. Exhibition admission is free, while planetarium shows, tours and special events require tickets and programme checks. The exhibition is wheelchair accessible via ramps and lift with accessible toilets and seating; some ramps are steep and planetarium seats are narrow.
