Esrange Ground Station

Esrange Ground Station is SSC Space’s operational satellite ground-station infrastructure within the broader Esrange Space Center near Kiruna, Sweden. SSC describes multiple independent S-band telemetry, tracking and command systems with 7.3- to 13.5-metre antennas, multiple receive systems in S-, X- and Ka-band for Earth-observation data, and 4-metre-class S/X/Ka antennas supporting SSC Space Go. The site has its own UPS and diesel generation, supports polar-orbiting satellite contacts, remote-sensing data acquisition, telemetry, tracking, command and launch-and-early-orbit services, and forms the Kiruna half of SSC’s Kinuvik concept with Inuvik Ground Station. This record represents the distinct controlled communications infrastructure, not a second Esrange Space Center launch, test and research complex and not the separate Esrange Visitor Center outside the security gate. SSC’s current site guidance says the secured center is not open for routine public visits; arrange access with SSC and verify current road, safety and security permissions before field planning.
