Esrange Space Center

Esrange Space Center is SSC Space’s active launch, test and ground-station complex near Kiruna in northern Sweden, operational since 1966. It supports sounding-rocket launches, high-altitude balloons, microgravity and atmospheric research, rocket and engine tests, reusable-rocket testing, satellite tracking and the development of orbital launch services; its satellite-launch site was inaugurated in 2023, with SSC targeting a first satellite launch in 2028. Public access is limited to the Visitor Center outside the security gate: SSC says it is open daily from 08:00 to 18:00 without booking, but there is no public transportation and the secured Space Center itself is not open to the public. Invited or group access inside the gates requires SSC arrangements. Check current visitor, road, launch and security guidance before travel.
