Estación Astrofísica de Bosque Alegre

Estación Astrofísica de Bosque Alegre is the mountain observing site of Observatorio Astronómico de Córdoba. Inaugurated in 1942, its 1.54-metre reflector was the Southern Hemisphere's most powerful telescope for decades and remains an active research instrument associated with work ranging from the Atlas of Southern Galaxies to the discovery of rings around Chariklo. Public daytime tours enter the historic main dome and explain the telescope, the station's history, and current research; reserved nighttime visits add observing when conditions allow. The remote site is reached by private vehicle via the road toward Falda del Carmen.
