Evgeni Kharadze Georgian National Astrophysical Observatory

The Evgeni Kharadze Georgian National Astrophysical Observatory is an active research campus and public astrotour destination on Mount Kanobili above Abastumani. The 2026 daytime tour includes the demonstration hall, Georgian astronomy history, scientists’ offices, the heritage-listed 40-centimetre refractor, and a popular-science lecture; daytime hours are 11:00–19:00 in May–August, 11:00–18:00 in March–April and September–October, and 11:00–17:00 in January–February and November–December. Night tours run 21:00–01:00 in May–August, 20:00–00:00 in March–April and September–October, and 19:00–23:00 in January–February and November–December; service is not provided on Georgian public holidays, and telescope observing depends on clear skies. Tours are offered in Georgian or English for groups of up to 30; confirm current booking, prices, weather, and mountain-road conditions before travel.
