Fernbank Science Center

Fernbank Science Center, operated by the DeKalb County School District, is Atlanta's free public astronomy and space-science centre. Its exhibit hall and aerospace education programmes sit alongside the Jim Cherry Memorial Planetarium, which uses Digistar 7 10K projection, and the Ralph Buice Jr. Observatory with a 0.9-metre (36-inch) Cassegrain reflector beneath a 10-metre dome. General admission and parking are free; planetarium presentations may be ticketed separately, and public observatory viewing depends on weather and the current calendar. Check the operator's live hours, closure dates and programme schedule before travel. This is the school-district science centre, separate from the nearby Fernbank Museum of Natural History. Address: 156 Heaton Park Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30307, United States.
