1 Wing Historical Centre

The 1 Wing Historical Centre at Beauvechain Air Base preserves the airfield’s history from 1935 to the present, with particular attention to Belgian fighter squadrons from 1946 to 1996. Its aircraft and interpretation include Spitfire, Mosquito, Meteor, Hunter, CF-100, F-104G, F-16, Mirage V, MiG-21, Fouga and Alpha Jet types, plus engines, service vehicles, uniforms, a scale base model and wartime/Cold War memorabilia. The volunteer-run centre’s current visit page says it is open without advance reservation on the afternoon of the second and fourth Sunday of each month, from 31 January through 15 December. Listed summer hours are 13:30–18:00 from 2 March through 26 October; winter hours are 13:30–17:00 from 2 November through 15 December and 31 January through 1 March. Guided group visits require advance booking and payment, with booking paperwork due 10 days before the visit; confirm the operator’s current 2026 opening dates before travelling.
