Telespazio’s Piero Fanti Fucino Space Centre is an operational civilian satellite ground facility in Abruzzo, active since 1963. It provides in-orbit satellite control, launch and early orbit operations, mission management, telecommunications, television, and multimedia services, and hosts ground-segment components for COSMO-SkyMed and Galileo. The site also houses Telespazio’s museum and the stern of Marconi’s Elettra; the operator’s facility page does not list general public hours, so confirm access arrangements with Telespazio before visiting. A 2026 Telespazio–ASI agreement is upgrading its historic 27 m FOC-1A antenna for near-Earth, deep-space, and lunar communications.
