Gemini North Observatory

Gemini North Observatory is the 8.1-metre northern telescope of the International Gemini Observatory near the summit of Maunakea, using adaptive optics, imaging, and spectroscopy to study the northern sky. Free public tours run on alternate Thursdays with advance registration, beginning with orientation and acclimatisation at Hale Pōhaku before travelling by visitors' own four-wheel-drive vehicles to the summit control room, mirror-coating chamber, telescope dome, and instruments.
