Ghana Radio Astronomy Observatory

Ghana Radio Astronomy Observatory is an operational 32-metre radio telescope at Kutunse, converted from a former satellite communications antenna into West Africa's first operational node of the African VLBI Network. Its C-band receivers, control systems, data centre, and hydrogen-maser timing equipment support single-dish science and preparations for networked interferometry. Public engagement is a substantial part of the site: more than 3,000 people, mostly students, visited in 2025, and educational tours introduce the telescope, control room, data centre, engineering, and astronomy research.
