Green Bank Science Center

Green Bank Science Center is the public gateway to the National Science Foundation's Green Bank Observatory in West Virginia's National Radio Quiet Zone, home to the 100-metre Green Bank Telescope, the world's largest fully steerable radio telescope. The free Catching the Wave Exhibit Hall and radio-astronomy interpretation explain the observatory's instruments, history and discoveries; visitors can also explore self-guided grounds and trails. Guided bus/site tours, behind-the-scenes programmes and special events may require tickets, reservations or advance clearance, and some historic tour areas use stairs; ask the operator about accommodations. Hours, tour availability and seasonal or holiday closures change, and severe weather can close the site, so check the live visitor page.
