HARS Parkes Aviation Museum

HARS Parkes Aviation Museum is a distinct Historical Aircraft Restoration Society collection at Parkes Airport, housed in a former RAAF Bellman hangar from the Second World War. The site connects Parkes aviation history—from the first 1919 landing and wartime navigation, wireless-gunner and operational training schools to post-war Mosquito operations—with an Australian aircraft display and restoration programme. Exhibits include the Bell AH-1 Huey Cobra, de Havilland DHC-4 Caribou, DH.114 Heron, Convair 580, Dakota, Macchi trainer, Lockheed P2V Neptune, Westland Wessex, Grumman Tracker and Lockheed 12A Electra Junior, with additional airframes and restoration work changing as the branch develops. The Parkes site has been used for HARS storage since 2015 and is being transformed into a museum in its own right; work is underway on a new site at the entry to Muzycuk Drive. The operator currently publishes public access on Thursdays and Sundays from 09:30–15:30, or by appointment.
