Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station Heritage Site

Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station Heritage Site preserves the foundations and interpreted remains of a NASA communications station that opened in 1967. Its 26-metre antenna tracked Apollo spacecraft and received and relayed the first live television of Neil Armstrong stepping onto the Moon during Apollo 11; the station later supported Apollo 13, Apollo 15, and Skylab before closing in 1981. The dish was moved to the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex, but the original pad, surviving fabric, and educational signs remain open to visitors beside Honeysuckle Picnic Area, with sealed-road access, parking, and nearby visitor facilities.
