Houston Spaceport

Houston Spaceport is a federally licensed commercial spaceport managed by Houston Airport System on 400 acres at Ellington Airport (EFD), established in 2015 as a hub for commercial aerospace and aviation companies and for research, development, fabrication and education. It is FAA-licensed as a launch and landing site for suborbital, reusable launch vehicles and was the tenth commercial spaceport in the United States to receive a federal spaceflight license. The operator lists activities including lunar exploration support, hypersonic spacecraft and engine testing, space-station fabrication and assembly, space and planetary research and education, next-generation spacesuit and habitation-system development, and aerospace and aviation training. This is an operational aerospace business and research campus, not a general public walk-in attraction; it occupies the southeast side of the mixed-use Ellington Airport and tenant, security and visitor access follow Houston Airports arrangements.
