Ishigakijima Astronomical Observatory

Ishigakijima Astronomical Observatory is a jointly operated public facility of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, Ishigaki City and local education and astronomy partners. Its 105-centimetre MURIKABUSHI optical-infrared reflector, the largest in the Kyushu-Okinawa area, supports Solar System and transient-object research and public stargazing. Telescope viewing and facility tours require advance reservation; visitors can also use the Ishigaki City Starry Sky Learning Room for astronomy images and video and a 4D digital-space theater.
