JAXA Noshiro Rocket Testing Center

JAXA Noshiro Rocket Testing Center in Akita, established in 1962, is a propulsion research facility for static-firing tests of solid rocket motors, liquid-oxygen/liquid-hydrogen engines and air-turbo-ramjet systems, plus reusable-vehicle lift and landing tests, jet-engine experiments and university collaboration. JAXA offers free, reservation-required visits to the exhibition and selected test facilities; the current visitor page describes a roughly 60-minute center tour. Visitor-contact hours are listed as 10:00–16:00, with closures Friday–Monday, national holidays, year-end/New Year, and August 12–15. A 2026 JAXA notice suspended visits June 1–August 16 and said normal acceptance resumes August 17, so confirm current test-related notices before travel.
