JPL’s Space Flight Operations Facility (SFOF), Building 230, is the command and communications hub for NASA’s Deep Space Network and robotic deep-space missions. The mission-control room receives spacecraft data and sends commands through the DSN, and JPL identifies SFOF as a National Historic Landmark known as the “Center of the Universe.” It is a working facility rather than a walk-in attraction: public access occurs through JPL-hosted tours, open houses and special events. JPL’s free Explore JPL 2026 open house on October 10–11 includes SFOF, but timed tickets are required and availability is limited; check JPL’s live visitor guidance before travel. Location: JPL Building 230, DSN Road, California, USA.
