Kodaikanal Solar Observatory

Kodaikanal Solar Observatory is the Indian Institute of Astrophysics' historic solar station, established in 1899 and responsible for one of the world's longest continuous solar-observation series. Its current bookable visitor programme provides guided access to designated parts of the campus, while the public astronomy museum presents the observatory's discoveries with telescope models, films, a live solar image, and the Fraunhofer spectrum when conditions permit. The institute publishes daytime group sessions, Sunday visiting hours, admission terms, and a short evening skywatch programme; advance registration is required for the guided campus visit.
