Kulasekarapatnam Spaceport

India’s second rocket launch site, the ISRO Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) Launch Complex at Kulasekarapattinam, Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu, is under construction. ISRO says construction began in March 2025 for upper-stage assembly and launch-service facilities; government reporting in July 2026 says development is progressing steadily, while a June 2026 ISRO tender covers control-room equipment at the SLC site. The complex is intended primarily for SSLV launches to sun-synchronous polar orbits and for launches by private space start-ups and other non-governmental entities. Commissioning remains targeted for FY 2026–27, but no current launch date or public visitor programme is established.
