Telespazio’s Lario Space Centre near Gera Lario, north of Lake Como, is a commercial teleport and satellite ground facility active since 1977. Telespazio says the centre covers 80,000 square metres, with more than 60 operational antennas supporting satellite transmission and reception; its current facility profile also identifies the site as a ground station for third-generation Meteosat satellites and as an active satellite in-orbit-control and data-acquisition centre. EUMETSAT identifies Lario as an MTG Mission Data Acquisition ground station whose antennas are remotely controlled and monitored from the EUMETSAT control centre in Darmstadt. This is an operational private-sector facility; reviewed current operator pages do not publish a general walk-in route, so contact Telespazio before planning a visit.
