LIGO Exploration Center (LExC) is LIGO Hanford Observatory's free public exhibit and education centre, with a 5,000-square-foot interactive gallery about gravitational waves and related science. Displays include LIGO detector and engineering hardware, historic artifacts such as the Weber Bar, a replica of Rainer Weiss's Nobel Prize medal, hands-on classroom activities and views toward Rattlesnake Mountain. Drop-in admission is free; current opening dates and holiday or temporary closures are published on the operator's live page. Registered monthly public, private or field-trip tours can add the interferometer arms, control room and working-observatory context. Tour paths include indoor and outdoor walking, are ADA-accessible, and weather or air quality can affect operations; service animals are allowed.
