Maine Air Museum, operated by the Maine Aviation Historical Society, preserves Maine aviation history from early ballooning and barnstorming through civil, commercial, military and recreational flying and space travel. Its displays and archives occupy a former Cold War missile-assembly and maintenance facility at Bangor International Airport, with artifacts, photographs, stories and aircraft-history interpretation. The operator’s 2026 public season runs Saturdays 10:00–16:00 and Sundays 12:00–16:00, with annual opening from the first weekend in June through the last weekend in September; group visits should call ahead.
