Maunakea Visitor Information Station

Maunakea Visitor Information Station (Onizuka Center for International Astronomy) is the public mid-level visitor facility at 9,200 feet on Hawaiʻi’s Maunakea Access Road. The University of Hawaiʻi’s current visitor guidance lists daily 09:00–21:00 hours, no entrance or parking fee, staff safety information, exhibits, restrooms, a bookstore, a solar telescope and stargazing when weather permits. Visitors heading above the station should check road and weather advisories, acclimate there for at least 30 minutes, and use an appropriate 4WD/AWD vehicle; 2WD vehicles are not permitted above the station.
