McMurdo Ground Station

NASA’s McMurdo Ground Station (MGS) is an operational 10-metre satellite ground station at Arrival Heights above McMurdo Station on Ross Island, Antarctica. NASA lists the station in the Near Space Network for S/X-band service; the NASA Near Earth Network guide specifies one 10-metre antenna that transmits at S-band while receiving at S- and X-bands, with auto-track capability, remote monitoring from Wallops, and IP baseband interfaces. Its southern position supports data acquisition and communications with polar-orbiting spacecraft. The facility is a NASA ground-station asset at the U.S. Antarctic Program’s McMurdo location, distinct from the wider McMurdo Station destination.
