McMurdo Ground Station

McMurdo Ground Station is NASA’s operational automated 10-metre satellite ground station at Arrival Heights above McMurdo Station on Ross Island, Antarctica. It supports S- and X-band tracking, telemetry, command, and data acquisition for polar-orbiting spacecraft; NASA lists it in the Near Space Network, and the U.S. Antarctic Program identifies it as a NASA-owned system. This is controlled research and communications infrastructure within the U.S. Antarctic Program rather than a public attraction: access depends on approved Antarctic logistics, station authorization, and environmental and safety rules, so no routine public access should be assumed.
