MeerKAT is South Africa’s 64-dish radio interferometer at SARAO’s radio-quiet Losberg site, about 90 kilometres outside Carnarvon, and a precursor to SKA-Mid. The site is not open for walk-in visits; public access is limited to SARAO-announced open days with advance paid registration, signed indemnity forms, and arranged return transport from Carnarvon. Visitors cannot drive to the site or bring mobile phones or digital cameras, and must bring their own food and water. Check SARAO’s visitor page for future dates and requirements.
