Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre

Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre is an accredited volunteer museum preserving RAF Metheringham, its 106 Squadron Bomber Command story and the people who served there. Original wartime buildings—including the ration store, gymnasium and shelters—hold photographs, letters, logbooks, uniforms, aircraft parts, escape-and-evasion equipment, crew stories and a memorial garden. The Dakota Hangar houses Douglas C-47A KG651, a restored 1944 RAF Dakota that visitors can enter, including the cockpit by steps, alongside a 1943 Willys Jeep, glider and airfield displays. The centre is open Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays 10:00–16:00; it is closed on bank holidays and there is no access during the closed season or outside normal hours without prior agreement because the museum is on private property. 2026 admission is £8 for adults and children aged 16+, £3 for ages 13–15 and free for children 12 and under; admission includes the Dakota, wartime buildings and memorial garden.
