Misasa Deep Space Station (MDSS) is JAXA’s separate 54 m deep-space ground station in Saku, Nagano, built as a facility of the Usuda Deep Space Center and operated by the Space Tracking and Communications Center. Completed in 2021 and brought into operation in April 2021, MDSS exchanges commands and observation data with deep-space probes and uses X-band transmission/reception and Ka-band reception; JAXA documents reliability and operability upgrades completed through 2024 for future and international mission support. The current JAXA access page says MDSS does not accept tours. It is controlled operational infrastructure reached only by car via the Tateshina Skyline, which has seasonal closures and road-permit constraints; a nearby Saku City visitor lot has about seven spaces. The separate 1905-43 Tateshina, Maeyama, Saku City, Nagano 385-0046, Japan address and 36.1409306, 138.3522412 coordinate identify the MDSS site; confirm current permission and road conditions before travel.
