Mount John Observatory Summit Experience is Dark Sky Project's current guided public night tour to the University of Canterbury Mount John Observatory in New Zealand's Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve. The 1-hour-45-minute experience transports visitors from the Takapo base to the summit, where astronomy guides combine naked-eye and laser orientation with powerful telescopes and a 16-inch telescope inside a private dome; tours are offered seven days a week with an indoor weather alternative.
