NAOJ Mizusawa Campus

NAOJ Mizusawa Campus is a public campus of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan and home to the Mizusawa VLBI Observatory and RISE lunar and planetary research. Visitors can follow a free self-guided walking route, open 09:00–17:00, with explanatory panels and views of the 20-m and 10-m VERA radio antennas, the historic Visual Zenith Telescope room, related observatory facilities and the Kimura Hisashi Memorial Museum. The annual open-house event held during summer vacation is when the antenna normally closed to the public is opened, alongside special lectures. The Kimura Museum is free and open 09:00–17:00 with last entry at 16:30. The adjacent Oshu Space and Astronomy Museum (Oshu YUGAKUKAN) is a separate city-run destination with 4D2U and hands-on exhibits; it is also listed as 09:00–17:00 with last entry at 16:30 and separate admission.
