NASA Goddard Visitor Center

NASA Goddard Visitor Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, opened to the public in May 1976 and is the free public gateway to Goddard’s Earth science, astrophysics, heliophysics, planetary science, engineering, communications and technology work. Exhibits include spacecraft hardware, satellite and telescope models, a rocket garden, interactive displays and family learning. Current NASA public hours are Thursday–Friday 10:00–15:00 and Saturday 12:00–16:00; Tuesday–Wednesday school and group programs require reservation. The center is closed on federal holidays and whenever Goddard closes for inclement weather. Families and small groups can explore the exhibits and rocket garden without reservation. Qualifying educational, nonprofit, civic and community groups may request pre-registered two-hour active-facility tours on Tuesdays or Wednesdays; tours require at least four weeks’ notice, group transportation and security information.
