NASA Michoud Assembly Facility

NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans is “America’s Rocket Factory,” a government-owned, contractor-operated campus managed by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. Founded in 1961, the 829-acre site contains about 43 acres of manufacturing space under one roof and builds or assembles major Space Launch System and Orion hardware for Artemis, including SLS core stages, Orion pressure-vessel work and launch-abort-system components. This is an active industrial facility, not a walk-in visitor attraction: NASA says it is closed to the general public, while special STEM tours for schools and organizations may be arranged case by case.
