NASA White Sands Test Facility

NASA White Sands Test Facility (WSTF) in Las Cruces, New Mexico, founded July 6, 1963, is a self-contained NASA propulsion, materials and hazardous-systems testing facility. WSTF tests and analyzes rocket propulsion systems, oxygen systems, hypervelocity impacts, propellants and aerospace fluids, composite pressure systems, flight-acceptance hardware and spacecraft components; its work has supported human spaceflight from Apollo through the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. This is an access-controlled hazardous testing facility, not a general walk-in attraction: visits must be sponsored by a badged NASA employee, approved before arrival and may take up to 30 days to process.
